Meagan Olivia Shea 1/22/2011

Meagan's favorite T.V. Show came on! Two solid minutes of "Puppy! Puppy! Kitty Kitty Kitty! Aww, Puppy! Puppppppyyy! Kitty k k k kitty! PUPPPY!!! Guess what it was?! Guess!! That's right! The commercial for the ASPCA! LOL That's the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals commercial. You know, the one that plays "In the Arms of the Angels" in the background. Too cute.

Meagan comes running down the hall towards me excitedly "Peeee!! Peeee!!!!"

I thought maybe, perhaps, she was aware of her urge to go to the bathroom for the very first time. She has been coming to me for the past couple of weeks as soon as her diaper is wet or poopy. It began with her grabbing her diaper, thrusting her pelvis toward me and moaning and has progressed to saying 'butt! butt!' often with the motions and moaning still included. LOL

I got up and followed her on her dancing path toward the bathroom door. "Peee! Pee!" she continued to chant. She leads me to the toilet and points into it's depths. I ask her, "Do you need to go pee??" And then my eyes focus on the toilet. There inside is a large collection of trash that she had apparently been throwing into it. She had come to get me to show me her proud accomplishment of putting treasures into the toilet.

So the question arises, why did she say 'pee' in order to get me to follow her to the bathroom? Does she think the bathroom is the "pee" room? Is the toilet called the "pee" in her mind? Or did she think that putting trash in the toilet is the equivalent of "pee." One may never know. What I do know is this. I had to reach into the toilet and pull out all of the trash. I had to disinfect my hands and Meagan's. I sat Meagan on the potty while saying, "Pee," in order to encourage her towards the right definition; nothing came of that but a squirmy Meagan rear end when it touched the cold porcelain!. I scolded a certain 5 year old boy for leaving the bathroom door open... AGAIN.

Aidan 1/14/2011

Day 2 of green smoothies is a success! Aidan also likes them. He hates spinach, but says, "Mom, you make the best spinach smoothies EVER!" LOL He asked me to make them again tomorrow (which is the plan, I'm going for daily), and I said, "I don't have spinach but I have red and green lettuce. "He said, "I don't like lettuce, but I bet I will love the smoothie, just like this!"

Meagan Olivia Shea, January 11, 2011

It's no news that Miss Megs LOVES shoes! It's so funny!

We went up to Meyers last night to get a birthday present for Aidan's 'girlfriend' (lol, another story entirely) and I wandered through the shoe clearance. Meagan's feet have just sprouted up a size and she only has a couple pairs of shoes. This is no problem for your average 18 month old baby, but for Megs, well... it's a major dilemma. When she first wakes up she brings me a pair of shoes to put on, and within an hour she brings me a pair of shoes to change into. After a few hours she runs out of shoes that she hasn't worn yet, and the frustration is evident on her face. At this point MY shoes start coming out of the closet, particularly my fluffy cute boots and my high wedge heels. She prances around the apartment proudly, but it doesn't take long before she is looking for a newer and more spectacular piece of footwear. The boys shoes have fallen prey to her love of shoes, but they don't last long. They just aren't pretty enough!

(lol as I type she just brought me her sparkly pink shoes AND her tan boots with pink stripes and is whining for a shoe change!! NO JOKE! but she's having a hard time picking. I'm trying to tell her she can only wear one pair at a time... Boots won this time.)

So, as of early this past week she only had two pairs of shoes: black shiny dress shoes and pink ballet flats. At Kohls on Saturday I had one last Christmas gift to exchange, and it happened to be one of Meg's presents. It was a duplicate gift, and I figured I'd trade it for another "My Little Pony." She loves the one she got for Christmas (I have a really cute short video of her brushing it's hair that I will post on facebook). They had a really good price on the ponies so I let her pick out two of them. She wanted Scootaloo and Cherrilee. :) We continued on our loop around the store and came to the shoe section. She starts calling out "SHOOOOOEESSS! SHOOOOESS! SHHHHHOOOOOOOOOESSSSSSS!"

I though, well, I guess we can look at the shoes cuz she could use a pair of every day shoes. Her eyes feel upon a wall of hanging boots and she says, "Shooes!" So I pulled down the first pair and handed them to her. She wanted them on, but she was wearing footie pjs and they wouldn't fit over top of them. She seemed a little upset until she saw the pink fluffy boots that had been hanging next to the tan boots I just handed her. "SHOOOOOEES!!" LOL

They were on sale! Thank goodness! (Ok, yes, she's spoiled a bit.... ;)

She actually dropped the "my little ponies on the ground and hugs the shoes and tries her best to get me to put them on her feet.

Fast forward to last night in the clearance aisle at Meyers (seriously, the whole weekend was nothing but hours of switching back and forth between the two pairs of boots, and she has now added "fluffy boots" to her vocabulary

First I tried on the knee high brown boots, but they wouldn't zip over her calves. Man, poor girl has the same problem her momma has. Somebody has seriously got to make tall boots for people with big calves! Then we tried the tan boots with fake fleece lining and she liked those a lot and didn't want her boots put back on. Next we tried on some purple slippers, but she kinda gave me that look that said, "seriously, Mom? I wouldn't be caught dead in those." So, I tried the pink "Zoe" from Sesame Street Slippers and she clearly approved. Next came a kinda plain pink pair and she actually kinda looked bored. I took them off and said, "I agree Meagan, they are boring. But then I lifted up a sparkly pair of hot pink dress shoes (think the ruby slippers in pink!) and she was all excited! They were too big on her, and when I took them off she threw her boots out of the cart as if to say, "I'm not putting those back on, Mom! I must have the pink shoes!"

----By the way, when I say she throws something out of the cart, she does not have a temper. She just has WAY more class than that. It's the casual flip of the hand and let it gently roll off into the floor. She's making a statement, not losing control of herself. -----

I found the pink shoes in her size, because I must admit I was feeling the pink shoes too! I handed them to her and as I did I saw a pair of knock off crocs in pink with the super soft fleece lining. I picked them up and though, "eh, she won't like 'em, but I'll try them on her anyway. She immediately says, "SOFT!" She's never said that word before! And then, to my great surprise, the pink sparkly shoes got the flip of the hand and roll to the floor treatment as she said "Soft" once more. Wow! Talk about stamp of approval!

My baby girl has definite opinions about shoes, I think!

This morning she has already worn three different pairs of shoes in the two and a half hours she has been awake. The Zoe slippers, Soft, and her tan boots with stripes. Sigh, what will I do when this fashionista discovers name brands?? :-) She's gonna have to get a job by the time she's two years old!

--and to finish this blog, Soft are now back on her feet. She really likes those
--also, it was during a shoe change that I was able to get a picture of all of her shoes... not without some distress from her as she wondered what I was doing with ALL of them!
--after all this I still haven't found her a pair of practical tennis shoes or something similar! I just refuse to pay full price for baby shoes. So ridiculously over priced for such little bits of material. Still have to check Carters and Gap up at the mall.

Evan: "Aww, man! The snow is melting!"

Me: "That's ok, hun. There's a big storm coming today."

Evan: "You mean a gigantic SNOW storm??"

Me: "Yes, there's going to be more snow."

Evan: "But will it blow our house away?"

Me: "No, our house will be fine."

Evan: "Whheeeewww!!! That's good. My undies will be safe in my dresser drawer! Cuz that's where they are and I can't have them blowing away!"
