She was so cute! She saw a shirt at Baby Gap that had a picture of a girl walking a dog and the girl had a purse on her shoulder. She let go of my hand and ran in to get it... "Shirt! Purse! Dog!" Then looks down at the mannequin's feet..."Shoes!" She went to the racks and started rifling through them. I told her they didn't have the shirt in her size so she kept walking through the store. We went to the back (in between she pulled off a pink t-shirt with puppies on it and when the sales clerk said, "I don't think that will fit you" She rolled her eyes at him and said "DOGS!" As if that explained everything.) At the back of the store, she saw the shirt she liked again, and I found it for her in her size. Meanwhile, her eyes lit upon the headband (pictured above) the matching shorts, and the sunglasses (which are the same ones the girl on the shirt is wearing). She grabbed them all up and marched to the cash register. LOL This is the official first time she has picked out an outfit.. and she pretty much broke my piggy bank. EEEK! But she has good taste. The outfit is cute. After we left she insisted on carrying the bag through the whole mall. :)
Oh... about 5 minutes afterwards, she looked in the bag and gasped "SHOES!!" Yeah.. we forgot to buy the matching shoes. My wallet thanks me for that.

Aidan: Is it alright if we put our sandwiches in the refrigerator so we can read the Bible today and we'll eat them tomorrow?"

(Because it's bedtime and he really wanted to read the Bible tonight, and they are eating pepperoni and cheese sandwiches right now)

Of course, we're letting him eat his sandwich and we're having Bible time tonight. :)

I wrote "Evan Charles Dennison" on Evan's bag of Easter candy. He said, "I HATE when you call me that. It's Evan CHARLIE Dennison." I replied, "You know, it says Evan Charles Dennison on your birth certificate, right? So that's your real name." "AHHHHH!" he moaned. "I'm Evan CHARLIE!" I want to CHANGE my birth certificate!! Rofl I told him when he gets older if he still feels that way he's welcome to do so. *giggles*

Meagan came with us to the bus stop this morning and now all she wants to do is go rescue her brother from the bus. She has her shoes on and keeps grabbing my hands. "Walk! Bus!" she says, with this worried expression. I think in her little mind, Aidan is just stuck riding the bus all day long. She is very distressed...

Later:
Oh... Miss Meagans was utterly joyful to FINALLY be allowed to go to the bus to get her brother Aidan (which comes out more like Anan?) She saw the bus pull in and her face lit up and she watched all the kids coming out anxiously, saying his name over and over. When he came into her line of vision she pulled at my hand and ran towards him gleefully and gave him a hug with a relieved sigh.

All is right with the world again!

This morning, Meagan set her banana on the floor and I told her to pick up the banana and set the banana on the table. She looked at me, looked at the banana, and kept on doing what she was doing. I repeated the request. She ignored me. I held her hand, led her to the banana and said, "Pick up the banana." She turned to me and said,"Up!" And smiled and batted those baby blue eyes at me. I gave her a hug, and said, "Pick up the banana." She threw herself on the floor and refused. This went on for a couple minutes, alternating with her appeals to be held, her showing me a sticker of a "chickie" that she had, and her crying because she did not want to pick up the banana. I had a thought.... I refuse to force my children into submission, particularly at that age, and I also do not want to give into them. Picking up the banana myself was not an option here. I called in reinforcements. "Aidan!! Meagan adores you. Let's do an experiment. Ask her to pick up the banana." Evan tagged along too.

At the request of her brother and the echoed "yes, Meagan, do it!" of her other brother, Meagan picked up the banana with a smile! I said, "Aidan, tell her to put the banana on the table." The same response. Meagan went trotting happily after them to the dining room table and put the banana in it's place.

Interesting! The psychologist in me is intrigued for sure. Looks like Meagan would rather do the bidding of her hero brothers than her momma! :)
